When they ran into the room they found bloody handprints on the baby’s crib. Incredibly, there were no signs of blood anywhere on the children.

Jay and Elke contacted CT Paranormal, who work closely with Father Bob Bailey, a priest and veteran demonologist. When they came to do an investigation Elke’s older dog, Mandy, went into convulsions — seemingly possessed. Father Bob ran over to the dog and began praying over it. Fearing for her family, Laura sought help from a paranormal team who capture what they believe is a video of an actual ghost. Soon after, Laura and a team member are inexplicably burned on their backs, and they suspect it is this ghost trying to hurt them.

After their dog is kicked clear across the room by this invisible force, the family calls in a paranormal team to help them deal with their problem. What the team discovers convinces Laza that her house is indeed haunted and her family is in serious danger.

Barry and Dustin Talk Ghost Hunters International

Interview with Ghost Hunters International Barry Fitzgerald and Dustin Pari.

Ghost Hunters International Barry and Dustin

GHI’s Barry Fitgerald and Dustin Pari

THE DEADBOLT: Barry, how hard or easy is it to spook you?

BARRY FITZGERALD: [laughs] My biggest nemesis has to be mannequins. I have to say that those truly frighten the living hell out of me, because I have my mind set on I’m there to do a job, I’m there to look for ghosts, and all of a sudden this dummy will be leaning against somewhere, maybe where it shouldn’t have been before, and it truly frightens the hell out of me.

In Argentina, in the case that’s coming up, that they had the death images that were taken back in Victorian times, where people would be propped up with different things around them and a photograph was taken. So I was in a dark room with my own camera taking photographs of these photographs, because I’ve never actually seen them before, and the only thing light-wise I had was the auto focus on the camera. So, as you can imagine, as I turned around there was a small dummy of a child leaning against the wall and I screamed louder than Brandy Green ever could and all of them grabbed their stomachs laughing at me. I get spooked by those things, I really do.

THE DEADBOLT: When you guys visit a location that is known to have hosted famous people, do you try to contact that person, or does that even factor into the investigation?

DUSTIN PARI: It doesn’t factor in as far as “do we do anything different?”, as far as putting all of our effort in. But anytime a location has a somewhat specific [person], especially somebody of notoriety, we are going to make that effort to contact them. The benefit of course, being someone of notoriety, is that we can try to use names that they may be familiar with. We can try to look up some history of that person and we can try to get into their mindset a little bit.

I think it’s a shared viewpoint that it’s very important to try to use, to the best of your ability, questions that are more likely to elicit a response rather than just throwing out there the stock questions like, “What is your name? How long have you been here?” We want to try to make an emotional connection that may make them come forward with a response.

THE DEADBOLT: Barry, since you’re the technical manager, is there any new equipment out there that you guys haven’t employed yet that you want to use?

FITZGERALD: We are going to be bringing new equipment along and it’s going to be some revolutionary and new video equipment. We start filming later this year and that new technology is going to come along, because it takes the perspective much further.

In the January 6th premiere episode Hitler’s Ghost, the GHI team ventured to Miramar, Argentina, and set their sights on the Gran Hotel Viena, once the secret residence of many Nazi war criminals including rumored guest, Adolf Hitler. The hunt was on as GHI tried to debunk claims that the hotel was actually haunted by Hitler himself.

In next week’s episode Silver Shadow premiering Wednesday, January 13, at 9PM (ET/PT), the team will make their way to La Falda, Argentina to uncover the ghostly mysteries of The Eden Hotel, a 19th century turn of the century luxury resort which once welcomed the rich and the famous including, Albert Einstein, the Prince of Wales and many world presidents to name a few. The Eden Hotel has had quite a strange, controversial past. Hotel employees and the municipality say past and recent paranormal activity at the hotel includes the apparition of a little girl, quick shadows running, voices whispering, cracking noises and slamming doors and windows. Paranormal activity runs so frequent at The Eden Hotel that the current restoration company for the hotel have complained that workers are scared to death to finish the restoration job.

The current owners moved into the manor in 1963 and had no idea of the tragic history surrounding their Victorian home and were no prepared for what would be in store for them.

Ghost Hunters International Witches Castle Episode.

Thursday, July 30th, 2009
Witches Castle episode reviewed by Professional Medium Lynne Olson.

 ghost-hunters-international-witches-castle

For some reason the last couple episodes of GHI has featured the ghosts of some twisted clerics of one sort or another. Moosham Castle, aka “Witches Castle” was more of the same. Built in the 12th century it was the site of some awful and predictably fatal trials of women accused of witchcraft.

Originally built as the residence of a 12th century Archbishop it also was constructed with the idea of being both a spiritual and temporal prison and execution site. Granted there wasn’t much difference between religious and state authority in 12th century Europe. Austria has an intensely Catholic history.

I am certain the Archbishop the place was built for is still there in ghost form. He was a piece of work. Consistent with Catholic teaching of the times women were seen at best as servants and baby machines and at worst as property frequently less valuable than livestock.

I asked my guides why this particular Archbishop (who was never named in the episode) was into the torture and killing of women as witches. I got three answers:

1) The man liked to watch the women in pain. It made him feel powerful.

2) He used women and when bored would have them accused of witchcraft and killed under the blessing of the Church. I was told this happened with two or three women he personally took as mistresses (another common practice of the era) and at least in one case when the mistress got pregnant had her branded a witch and killed. It would have been a major scandal for the Archbishop who was technically supposed to be sworn to a life of celibacy to have an illegitimate child running around the castle. Many clerics of the era did in fact have offspring and unofficial “wives” or mistresses, but an Archbishop would be considered a “Prince of the Church” and expected to behave according to a higher standard, at least by outer appearances.

3) The man was mentally ill.

When Barry and Dustin were trying to provoke the Archbishops ghost they called his actions into question. The ghost of the Archbishop got fairly angry at that claim. To this day he still doesn’t see anything wrong with his actions.  He also didn’t like his actions questioned. I don’t think many people did question his behavior during his lifetime.

This was the first time in the episode I picked up on the Archbishop’s curate or assistant priest. The man who was the Archbishop’s right hand man knew what was going on. However he had his own ambitions, namely to replace the Archbishop. The assistant priest knew the Archbishop was nutty as a fruit cake and figured eventually the man would act so badly that the higher authorities would have to remove him. Not sure if that actually happened, but the assistant shared the view of the times that the women who were accused of, charged with and then tortured and killed as witches had as little value as the local cattle. It might be somewhat wasteful to kill them, but not wrong or a sin as he saw it.

The servants in the castle and the Archbishop’s household also knew what was going on. It is likely due to them that the rumors have persisted over the centuries. However being on the staff of the Archbishop meant food and shelter and as several of the servants ghosts pointed out to me, it was terribly cold and hungry outside the castle walls much of the year.  Plus a good chunk of the kitchen staff was female and had good reasons to be afraid of the Archbishop. They sure didn’t want to join the wretched women branded as witches. (more…)

Ghost Hunters International – Gate to Hell

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009
Professional Medium Lynne Olson reviews Gate to Hell episode.

Ghost Hunters International Houska Castle

Houska Castle

I hate to disappoint those who are fascinated by the “Gates To Hell” hoopla but Houska Castle simply isn’t it. Is it haunted, definitely. Are there demons? Well, I only saw one minor, common type of imp I could just as easily (and have) seen in a suburban home, let alone a Czech medieval castle. It was attracted by ancient blood and residues of terrible pain.

Is there a vortex… sort of. I asked my guides what was going on, and they told me Houska Castle sits on a snarled ley line. I honestly didn’t know what a ley line was, so I looked it up on Wikipedia and there seem to be two schools of thought. One school of thought takes me back to high school geometry where the shortest distance between two points is a line. Animals, ancient and modern humans developed paths for foraging, hunting, farming, trade… etc… The shortest path was usually taken and connected one area of activity to another.

The second school of thought is that ley lines have some sort of electrical or magnetic energy associated with them that ties into paranormal and UFO phenomenon. I am voting for the second theory with magnetic energy the likely active force involved.

On Ghost Hunters Jason and Grant are constantly reminding us that electromagnetic fields make humans feel jittery, even paranoid on a regular basis. I was told by my guides that something of the sort is part of the natural geography in the area Houska Castle resides. According to the episode walk through this particular spot has long been making people uncomfortable.

That being said, this sense of unease has lead to some brutal bloodshed, torture and occult experimentation over the centuries. The oldest impression of the site I got was before Houska Castle was built, back to ancient times. Some sort of horrific, bloody battle was fought there. Not unlike many Civil War battlefields, the ground was literally soaked with blood at the time. I saw ancient bloodshed in mass quantities adding to the magnetic ley line disruption of the site.

Fast forward to the 13th century when Europe was firmly entrenched in the rule of the Catholic Church and Houska Castle was built. Tales of demons and the intriguing concept of building a box within a box to contain evil spirits gave an explanation for the unease and the strange things that went on there. (By the way, stone walls will not keep evil nor holy energy contained.)

Dark entities are usually attracted to unsettled graves, lots of blood lost in battle or murder and the negative imprints of evil deeds that have taken place, especially if they happen to be concentrated in a particular geographic area. I cannot count how many murder victims graves my guides have resolved and sealed after the unhappy occupants have moved into the light of God. Houska Castle hasn’t been energetically cleaned out in centuries, yet all I got was some depraved monks, a few cynical Nazi ghosts and a single low level imp. (more…)
