Mary Occhino
Mary Occhino was a definite character. Her grown children had their hands full. I felt badly for her daughter Jackie… Mary’s heavy handed matchmaking attempts would have embarrassed any single adult daughter. Much worse than the time an employee tried to set me up with the UPS guy. Mary O already has grandchildren via her son Carol. Why not leave Jackie alone?
Her son Chris… eccentric would be the kind term. He seems to alternate between end of the world survivalist planning and trying to be some sort of new age guru in the making. His statements “I have no room for failure in my life. I am running out of time” and “I am just bugging out right now” pretty much summed up how he was presented in the pilot episode.
I was more than a little worried when Mary kept repeating that “I am never wrong” She finally toned it down a bit and said her accuracy was between 85 and 90 percent. Nobody is always right. Ever.
Mary’s impressions of an old house she and her journalist son Carl walked through was proven to be impressively on track. She picked up on a private family Cherokee graveyard, underground railroad activity and the first name of a past owner. All these bits of information were confirmed by her son Carl at a local historical society. Mary said there was an accident, which was probably the car accident that killed former owner Earnest Tuttle. I would have liked to have known more about the bodies she saw laid out in front of the house. I think an entire family perished due to a rampant disease such as scarlet fever or typhoid. I would also add booze smuggling to the history of the house.
I saw the bodies, two adults and three children. The bodies were strangely bloated. Perhaps they were not found right away? Got an image of boxes of bottles secreted in the cupboards in the upper floors of the house. I heard the cries of the baby born and who passed in the front room of the house. The rest of it I didn’t pick up on but Carl found factual backup for her claims.
Mary stated all three of her grown children were also paranormally gifted but only son Chris acknowledged it.
On the spot readings as she went about her daily life… such things do happen, but I doubted everyone would be receptive to having their life stories pried open at the supermarket, bakery or dry cleaners.
I did enjoy the snippets from Mary’s radio show. The difference there was people self selected, chose to call in and requested spot readings on the air.
The purpose of a reality show is to entertain and Mary O certainly provided that.
Blessings,
Lynne
