Seeing vs. Believing

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

The Special will premiere May 2nd at 8 PM (ET/PT) only on TLC

Since his father’s death, soap star Ricky Paull Goldin has been on a quest to understand the life of his father, a world famous hypnotist and psychic. Ricky, joined by his skeptical friend Jeff, travel the country in search of unexplained phenomenas, miracles, and the paranormal.

Ricky Paull Goldin is a well-known soap star and is the son of a prominent figure in the spiritual world. Prior to his role on “All My Children” as Jake, he could be seen on “Guiding Light” as Gus Aitoro. Ricky is a life-long ‘believer’ in the metaphysical world, but knows that not every story out there is the real deal. That’s where his skeptic friend Jeff comes in.

Jeff Gurtman, host of shows such as Travel Spies, Frugal but Fabulous and Cube Fabulous, has always been a skeptic- he needs proof before he’ll buy any theory. His analytic thinking allows him to be a perfect, rational companion for Ricky on his quest to discover the truth behind unexplained phenomena.

Armed with a journal from Ricky’s late father and a GPS, Ricky and Jeff travel in search of abnormalities, unexplained phenomena and the paranormal. Their journey across America leads them to a man who refers to himself as a Perceptionist, to Arkansas in search of the devil and finally, they land in Missouri to track down a boy who survived a tornado. Who will prevail in the quest to explain the unexplainable?

TLC to Premiere Special, PARANORMAL COURT

TLC announced plans to premiere PARANORMAL COURT, a one-hour program following Robert Hansen, a renowned psychic medium who steps in to help families get the answers they need because the death of a loved one has left them with questions and a lack of closure. Viewers are taken on a journey with Robert as he is called in to settle disputes and get three families the verdict that they need once and for all.

PARANORMAL COURT is a one-off that will premiere Saturday, March 27th at 10PM, only on TLC.

PARANORMAL COURT demonstrates Robert’s psychic abilities in solving disputes when two parties come together and agree to be bound by the ruling enlisted from the other side. First, a mother and daughter battle over their loved one’s gold cross. Then, a close-knit group of siblings is ripped apart after one allegedly steals their dead brother’s car. And finally, a mother’s inability to let go of her deceased daughter strains her marriage to the breaking point. Can Robert provide these families with a resolution — so that their loved ones may rest in peace?

“PARANORMAL COURT is about helping families in their time of need,” said TLC SVP Production and Development, Nancy Daniels. “Robert Hansen is an amazing talent with deep compassion. He connects with families and their lost loved ones to resolve issues surrounding death — and most importantly to give them closure.”

At PARANORMAL COURT, there may not be a will, but there is always a way. What will happen when the dead speak?

Just Released Book Profiles Feline Angel of Death

Ray Henry

Oscar the Cat

Oscar, a hospice cat with an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, sits outside a patient’s room.

The scientist in Dr. David Dosa was skeptical when first told that Oscar, an aloof cat kept by a nursing home, regularly predicted patients’ deaths by snuggling alongside them in their final hours.

Dosa’s doubts eroded after he and his colleagues tallied about 50 correct calls made by Oscar over five years, a process he explains in a book released this week, “Making Rounds With Oscar: The Extraordinary Gift of an Ordinary Cat.” The feline’s bizarre talent astounds Dosa, but he finds Oscar’s real worth in his fierce insistence on being present when others turn away from life’s most uncomfortable topic: death.

“People actually were taking great comfort in this idea, that this animal was there and might be there when their loved ones eventually pass,” Dosa said. “He was there when they couldn’t be.”

Dosa, 37, a geriatrician and professor at Brown University, works on the third floor of the Steere House, which treats patients with severe dementia. It’s usually the last stop for people so ill they cannot speak, recognize their spouses and spend their days lost in fragments of memory.

He once feared that families would be horrified by the furry grim reaper, especially after Dosa made Oscar famous in a 2007 essay in the New England Journal of Medicine. Instead, he says many caregivers consider Oscar a comforting presence, and some have praised him in newspaper death notices and eulogies.

Philadelphia’s Eastern State Penitentiary is said to be the one of the most haunted places in America. Since its closing in 1971, many have reported hearing eerie voices, weeping and tormented screams, while others have seen shadows dart in and out of cells. Investigators use the latest technology to search for paranormal activity. Motion sensors are rigged, night-vision and infrared cameras positioned, acoustic triangulation systems set up, and 3-D laser scanners offer a rare view inside.

Scientists try to answer the question: What are Ghosts made of?

Can super low frequency sound waves make us see ghosts?

Is this abandoned prison haunted or just haunting? A team of scientists try to separate objective reality from human imagination.

Pet Psychic can’t tell fortune of new series

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

By Ken Hoffman

Sonya Fitzpatrick can talk a cat out of a tree — and it doesn’t matter if she’s home in The Woodlands and the scaredy cat is in Sydney, Australia.

Fitzpatrick can talk common sense into squabbling squabs. She can reason with rattlesnakes. She can figure out what’s agitating an alligator.

More important, she can get your cat to cheer up or your pooch Scruffy to stop piddling when friends come over to your house.

Fitzpatrick can talk to the animals.

Humans? At least in one case — programming executives at cable’s Animal Planet — she can’t get them to return a phone call.

Fitzpatrick’s pilot show, Pet Psychic Encounters, aired last week on Animal Planet, and Fitzpatrick hasn’t heard a word from the network on whether the show will be picked up as a series.

“Humans don’t communicate very well,” Fitzpatrick said. “I guess I will hear from them … when I hear from them. I do know that they’ve had a tremendous response to my show.”

Psychic Kids Q & A- Please read if you are searching for answers.

Psychic Kids Chris Fleming

Chris Fleming

A couple weeks ago when Psychic Kids aired I received a variety of wonderful emails from kids, mothers and families regarding their abilities and how to use them.

Thank you all for writing and asking!

Here are some of those questions and answers for anyone that is searching themselves. Please keep in mind the responses are based not only on my own personal experiences but also my beliefs and feelings that have been instilled upon me from first hand encounters and solutions I have found valuable in my own spirit quest. Yours may differ.

Q: Have you ever seen lights or what looks like star shows at night in the house or in your room while you were a kid?

As a child I saw a couple of things that were like lights. I saw a ball of light once shoot down the hall and have a contrail to it. Very weird and odd. On another occasion, I saw a male ghost appear in my room while my friend Bud was sleeping in a sleeping bag about 10 feet away from my bed. This male ghost was glowing with an internal glow to it that did NOT light up the room or illuminate the walls. It seemed to be self contained. The spirit seemed lost or confused, and I was scared, so I called out for Bud (he didn’t answer) and after that didn’t work I yelled out for my dad who came down the hall and turned on the hallway light. As soon as the light went out this ghost imploded into a ball and then vanished! As if it went into a black hole or something. Very odd.

It wasn’t until many years later while I was investigating Thunderbird Lodge that I saw a light, which at first I thought was a lightening bug. However, in dead winter that was impossible. It lit up when I asked, “where did this guy die?” I followed the path to where this light appeared and picked some horrible place memory of a tragedy. I was told that just below where I saw the light (it was hovering about 8 feet above the ground) was where the janitor died after being attacked and killed by a bear. This light led me right to it!
