Ghost Adventures Returns for a Sixth Season

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

Travel Channel returns with season six of the popular paranormal travel series, “Ghost Adventures” on Friday, March 9 at 9:00 PM

Investigative duo, Zak Bagans and Nick Groff, along with equipment technician Aaron Goodwin, explore some of the most haunted locations in America to unearth the trapped souls and dark energy within.

This season, the team visits spots that have never been explored by the Ghost Adventures team including the Peabody-Whitehead Mansion in Denver, CO, the Shanghai Tunnels in Portland, OR, as well as the family home of paranormal equipment inventor Gary Galka in East Granby, CT, where business gets personal as they help one family make contact with their dead daughter in a deeply personal story of love, loss and a haunted house.

Each of the seven, one-hour episodes starts with an in-depth profile of a location’s haunted past. Once the story is told, viewers follow the investigative team as they survey every nook and cranny while conducting scientific experiments while being locked down overnight.

“Ghost Adventures continues to attract huge audiences for the Network and has a growing appeal to travelers who seek a different type of thrill and adventure,” said Andy Singer, SVP, Programming and Production, Travel Channel. “Zak, Nick and Aaron have built a dedicated fan base that seem to follow their every visit and tweet, and are inspired to visit many of the destinations featured in their show.”

The new season kicks off with the trio as they head to Denver, CO to explore the historically haunted Peabody-Whitehead Mansion. Built in 1889, its first owner Dr. William R. Whitehead was convinced the building was plagued by the spirits of hundreds of soldiers he tried to save from his days as a surgeon for the Confederate Army during the United States Civil War.

After his death, when controversial Colorado Governor James Peabody moved in to the mansion, things only worsened. The governor was viewed by many as the enemy of the working man and in 1904, the Governor ordered state militia to break union strikes by the region’s gold miners by brute force. Hundreds were injured in the violence, and dozens were killed as their bloodshed was on the governor’s hands.

All the years of torment are now trapped inside this now empty Grant Street mansion. In addition to being the site of a suicide, there have been over 120 years of ghostly activity in the building including reports of visitors being pushed up against the wall by unseen forces!

UFC Fighter Brendan Schaub joins the trio at the Peabody-Whitehead Mansion in hopes to shed some light on the evil entities in order to learn more about the darkness that lies within the walls of this historic location.

During the investigation in the basement, it gets personal when a spirit calls out Brendan by name, and then reveals new evidence about an unsolved crime.

This turn of events triggers the involvement of the Denver Police Department – currently reviewing the “Ghost Adventures” team’s evidence.

Season 5 Premiere – September 23, 2011

Season five of “Ghost Adventures” returns with paranormal investigators Zak Bagans and Nick Groff, along with equipment technician Aaron Goodwin as they unveil the history and dark secrets of haunted locations around the world.

This season takes a deeper dive into the culture and history of these spooky locations before the overnight ghost investigation occurs, visiting never before investigated locations including the Mizpah Hotel in Tenopah, Nev. and the Ashmore Estates in Ashmore, Ill.

After completing over a hundred investigations and 64 episodes of the series, the trio takes their acquired ghost tracking skills to the next level — uncovering even more gripping scientific evidence — as they become more skilled at taunting and using equipment to engage the other side.

During the premiere episode, the guys head to the rural Midwest to clash with the demonic forces at the Ashmore Estates.

In 1870, the Ashmore Estates was a poor house, filled with social outcasts. After almost a century of countless deaths, the estates were then modified to be a psychiatric hospital in 1959. Some of the worst patients from another psych ward were sent here to continue their tortured existence. In 1986, Ashmore closed for good, and ever since, it’s been plagued with a demonic presence.

While there, the trio hopes to discover these evil entities in order to learn more about their malicious ways.

Haunted Hotel Spooks Ghost Adventures Stars

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

David Moye

If there was any way to monitor TV ratings in the afterlife, the Travel Channel series “Ghost Adventures” would probably make a killing.

The show, which starts its fourth season in September, is not only one of the cable network’s most popular, but series stars Zak Bagans, Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin are becoming as well known in the netherworld as they are in the real one.

“A lot of people think that this, because it’s on television, is entertainment, and we’re out there yelling and screaming for no reason,” Bagans told AOL News. “We live with things that follow us constantly. This ‘door’ has been open so long that it just constantly keeps getting wider and wider. So when we go places, it’s almost like we’re known in the spirit world.

“We go places that we haven’t even been yet, and they call our names. They say, ‘Zak! Nick, come in!’ all the time.”

Bagans, Groff and Goodwin, on a promotional tour for their series, were in San Diego recently to meet their living fans at Comic-Con, but graciously gave any ghostly groupies a chance to say hello as well by agreeing to be interviewed in Room 3327 at the Hotel Del Coronado, a world-famous hotel with a world-famous ghost by the name of Kate Morgan.

Morgan has been scaring up business since 1892 when she reportedly took her own life after spending five lonely and lovesick days at the hotel waiting for a man who never arrived.

Although the hotel has hosted such living luminaries as Bill Clinton, “Weird” Al Yankovic and the cast of “Baywatch,” Morgan is the most famous permanent resident. Her hotel room is popular with guests, many of whom report having strange paranormal experiences while staying there.

In other words, the perfect place for an interview with ghost experts like these guys, right?

In fact, Bagans says he, Groff and Goodwin prefer to stay in haunted hotels whenever possible.

“It’s what we live in,” he says. “This is our environment, so to be around it, personally, makes me more comfortable.”

Groff agrees.

“We’ve been doing this for so long that usually when we walk in, we can pick up stuff right away,” he says.

At that moment, a water bottle suddenly flies out of the hand of the show’s publicist, Diane McNamara, and lands seven feet away at my feet. The suddenness freaks out McNamara, causing her to leave the room and stay away for the remainder of the interview.

The only thing wrong with Ghost Adventures is that they ruined our enjoyment of other shows by making the competition look down right boring. Zak has raised the bar so high the other shows better step up or…well…lay down and die.

I was a little worried that a second season wouldn’t be as great as the first. So far its not only as good but they added more personality and humor as they look much more relaxed on camera.

Ancient Ram Inn had the usual winning formula. Interesting location and story, side trip to a nearby spot, intense investigation with evidence and the on going shtick of where can we isolate Aaron this time.

“Is that YOU making all that noise?”

No, that’s you Zak and the other shows better wake up and listen.

A 7-hour Paranormal Investigation of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV

On Oct. 30 the Ghost Adventures crew — Zak, Nick and Aaron — will lock themselves in one of America’s most haunted locations for the most ambitious LIVE paranormal investigation ever attempted.

Built during the Civil War, the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV, is the second largest, hand-cut stone building in the US, second only to the Kremlin in the world. For decades its massive walls housed the insane, the neglected and the unwanted. Patient-on-patient violence was common. Inmates were subjected to brutal medical procedures. The asylum was finally shut down in 1994 and stands empty today.

Even while operational, there were much reported paranormal activity in the asylum’s 2-1/2 miles of corridors. Visitors were grabbed from behind and dragged into rooms. Mysterious figures darted through walls. Today, those brave enough to venture inside report hearing the incoherent screams of the insane.

Ghost Adventures will have unprecedented access to the entire asylum from the seclusion cells where the most violent patients were shackled to the medical center where hundreds of primitive ice-pick lobotomies were performed.

As always the team will be padlocked inside the facility, unable to escape as they record their experiences. To aid in their investigation, they will be calling on both paranormal and technical experts.

Viewers at home will have complete access to the investigation on air and online as it occurs. They can monitor webcams throughout the building, chat with the guys during the lockdown, post messages on the bulletin board and send mobile text messages.

You won’t want to miss one minute of this 7-hour LIVE event.
